Mandi & Minh brought their 300+ person wedding celebration to the Hilton Torrey Pines for a beautiful reception after a church ceremony earlier in the afternoon. Planning with them was a blast, and included figuring on a “Flash Mob” during the middle of dancing. They are such a happy, sweet couple with “love stories” galore.
Guests were treated with appetizers and drinks at one of the four bars setup in two locations for Cocktail Hour, both inside and outside. After moving guests inside the Pavilion Ballroom, we proceeded with the Grand Entrances, First Dance, Parent Introductions and then into Dinner. Minh & Mandie proceeded to get through all 32+ tables for formal greetings – a tradition in Asian weddings, but Minh later called it “a marathon!” Mandie’s father blew the crowd away with a song he sung to her, immediately prior to the Father/Daughter dance which was done while still wiping the tears.
Open dancing was highlighted by that planned “Flash Mob” I referred to earlier. It was done to LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” and was a huge hit. NO less than 70-80 of the younger guests rocked it out like the video. One guest even had the “foil box headpiece”. We then cut the cake, enjoyed the video slide show and bouquet toss. With an hour left, we continued dancing till the high-energy ending to “I Gotta Feeling” (“tonight’s gonna be a good night . . . “)
Happy Vendors, Again
Last few months have been filled with great vendor teams. It was great to work directly with Brenda Swann of Swann Soriees – a lovin’ and lively coordinator with a warm-as-ever heart who can make any situation as fun as possible (not that we needed it here.) Omni Stories and their cool crew videoed the event and WOW’d everyone with a Same Day Edit video which included a “love story”. MobilePhotoBooth.com provided a fun place for all the guests to snap some fun portraits.
Paula Rae and her team from Rae florals decked out the tables in a variety of colors and centerpiece creations. It was my first time working with Rick & Bernadette from Narrative Images as well and would love to see their final images here instead of mine.
UPDATE – Rick & Bernadette posted ‘real’ images on their blog! We’ve updated this post with some of our favorites.
Scope of Supply
Being a larger event, our supply was appropriately bigger than many wedding receptions.
- Two (2) Remote Sound Systems for dual-Cocktail Hours
- Main Reception System
- Upgraded Sound System
Pictures of the Hilton Torrey Pines Wedding Reception
Due to the size of the wedding at over 300 guests, cocktail and dinner hours took a bit longer than many, so had a few extra minutes to capture some of the stunning reception.

BLAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend had mentioned to me that you had posted a great photo of the flash mob on your website. What great photos! I had no idea that you are not only talented with the music and MCing but photography as well! Thank you so much for making our day so very special. You made the evening flow so nicely. Another friend called the evening “flawless” and I believe it was due to your efforts as well as the Lovely Brenda to make it all possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love,
Mandie and Minh
p.s. Is there any way you can send us those pics! I would love to share with family and friends. Especially my cousin with the beer! lol!
