Brian and Monique got married at the Coronado Marriott and it was a great day for sure. Monique ensured that everything was top notch, from the ceremony details to the tent draping and lighting to the florals on each table. Even though it was extremely hot, brightly lit by the sun and a long day – it was a big success. For me, it was the 2nd wedding in a row at the Coronado Marriott outside in the tent (Too bad I couldn’t leave everything there.)
The ceremony was on the West Lawn and covered by others. Guests were then escorted to the East side of the property to join us on the lawn outside of the tent for hor d’ oeuvres and drinks. It was an early start (3:00pm) so the sun was still extremely bright and warm. Many guests took cover in any shade they could. I provided a groovy cocktail mix of music just outside the tent.

We let guests inside to be seated for dinner and then introduced the wedding party. Brian and Monique came in and went into their First Dance. After formally recognizing their family members, we started into dinner. Dinner was a bit extended and once the sun went down the guests found themselves outside along the waterfront to take pictures, mingle a bit, etc. This is my favorite time in regards to the lighting and makes for some snazzy tent pictures!
We then had our toasts and got into dancing soon after. By request, the reception ended with 30min of straight booty-shaking hip hop – popular in the clubs, but rare at weddings. Monique and her guests loved it! Through alot of sweaty bodies, everyone enjoyed themselves on the dancefloor, in the photobooth and just enjoying the beautiful San Diego nighttime atmosphere.
An extra connection and thanks for me at this wedding. My “DJ Mentor” Antonio Aguilera of Global BPM / San Diego Mixmasters was present at the wedding with wife Sandra, also a good friend of mine (I lived with them for almost 2 years back in the day.) I’ve known them for almost 10 years. Extra nice since he referred Monique and Brian to me.
