Nat & Elaine Celebrate 50 Years at Bernardo Winery

I have known Nat & Elaine for years as members of my Running Club so it was an extra special honor to assist them with their big day . . . they each celebrated their 50th birthday, and each within about a week of each other.  They planned an intimate gathering of the closest family and friends at the Bernardo Winery inside the Barrel Room. I assisted them in planning out the agenda, timeline and special events they wished to have, which included some speeches, a special recognition to Nat’s parents who flew over from Scotland to a...

Ken & Stephanie’s Scripps Forum Wedding

Ken and Stephanie got married at Scripps Forum in San Diego, and we were honored to provide the music, DJ/MC Services, and Lighting Services for their wedding ceremony and reception. The event was held at Scripps Seaside Forum at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. This oceanfront venue in the La Jolla region of San Diego epitomizes Southern California style. Ken and Stephanie began with an outdoors ceremony, then had a formal dinner inside for the reception. We provided Golden Amber Uplighting inside the room, and then supplied 4 large...

Enoc & Cindy Lit up at Marina Village

Enoc and Cindy held their “holiday” weekend wedding on the Friday following Thanksgiving.  They obviously had alot to be thankful for, and their wedding was a memorable one held in the Baja Room at Marina Village.  I’ve never seen the Baja Room look so good! We provided Uplighting and a Gobo Monogram.  The gobo itself was designed by their designer and matched their “branding” throughout as it was used on their dinner menus, wedding programs and other items. The Baja Room looked awesome.  I don’t remember...

Swing For Yellow – a Lance Armstrong Foundation Fundraiser

The local Lance Armstrong Foundation held their first annual “Swing Fore Yellow” golf tournament fundraiser at Maderas Golf Club located in Poway, CA. We designed and printed a Step & Repeat Banner for the players (and a few stars) to pose in front of.  For the awards ceremony following, we assisted with the A/V Services by supplying projection and simlar A/V equipment.  Finally, we helped with producing and showing their custom powerpoint presentation. Overall it was a great success and another one is already planned....

Jason and Amanda at La Jolla Shores Hotel

Jason and Amanda held their wedding on this gorgeous November day right on the beach at La Jolla Shores hotel.  Both Jason and Amanda were out of town couples and they decided to come to San Diego to have their November wedding.  Seeing the weather, it’s no wonder why. It was an absolutely beautiful day where the weather and rain held off and the smaller, intimate crowd had a great time from beginning to end. Our supply was highlighted by the fact that we had covered 4 areas of sound beginning with 1) ceremony, 2) cocktail hour, 3) a complete...

Trick or Treat for Corporate

Today was a nice day and a little bit of a change. I was called by an existing corporate client, ViaSat up in Carlsbad (I’ve done their big holiday parties in the past – 600+ people), to provide to music and DJ services for their Halloween event. The first half was a costume contest for the employees that I provided music and announcements. The second half was for the families as they were allowed to bring their children and families back to the corporate grounds and have trick-or-treating on the grounds. Was a nice change from...

Just Like My Child Fundraiser

I had the opportunity to work with a very special nonprofit organization, Just Like My Child in late October for their annual fundraising gala. The event was held at the magnificent Rancho Santa Fe home of John Asaraf. We provided audiovisual services, up lighting inside and out, area lighting, gobo/pattern lighting and Music/DJ services both inside and out.  The supply was so large, that we started setup and testing of the A/V system the day before.  The music was a blend of unique African and tribal songs and a little bit of African lounge...

Can a Gobo Monogram be Moved mid-event?

Can a Gobo Monogram be Moved mid-event?

I sometimes get asked if a Gobo Monogram projection / fixture can be moved in the middle of the event.  Say between dinner and dancing.  Technically, yes it can.  Practically, not so. The gobo monogram projection/fixture typically setup and shown on a single area all night. It’s a bit of a complex setup/fixture and moving it in the middle of the night would be disruptive, etc. For instance, because the fixture uses a 750W bulb (at least the fixtures that we use, very bright/hot) the fixture has to be unplugged for 10-15 minutes to cool enough...

Brett and Jennifer Wedding at Old Poway Park

Posted by on Oct 23, 2010 in Real Lighting, Real Weddings | 0 comments

Brett and Jennifer had their big day at Old Poway Park. They went for a country themed wedding and it was evident from everything from the outdoor country setting to the table decorations to the music selections. The rain held off for the day but it did cause a scare during set up as it look like it was going to downpour any minute. It turned out to be a gorgeous evening and the longer than usual wedding day of 8 hours, ended up flying by! Large Supply We had quite a large supply again (seems to be an October/November theme) as we supplied...

Brad and Kristine at The Crossings

Brad and Christine had their combined wedding ceremony and reception at the popular Crossings Resort up in Carlsbad. It was another potentially rainy October day, but the weather held off and provided a unique misty and overcast ceremony. We had the option to move the ceremony indoors, but Kristine insisted that stay outside and it paid off.  It was a great party from beginning to end! The dinner reception inside was just as gorgeous or we provided up lighting and a custom Gobo Monogram on the dancefloor. One of the many highlights of the...
