Chasing Firetrucks

This is an offbeat post here on my wedding blog. Yesterday was odd for numerous reasons – a full moon maybe?  A few odd things here and there, but after a full day at “work” from a wedding, I was driving home on Northbound I-15 and was approaching Mira Mesa Blvd exit.  It was 12:45am.  I saw a faint plume of faint smoke (or what could have been steam from a building, etc.) up on the left (West) side of the freeway. It was just about unremarkable, but as I approached the exit,...

Erik & Amber’s Coronado Marriott Resort Wedding

Erik and Amber held their stunning August wedding at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa and I was very excited  to provide DJ/MC services and wedding lighting for this special day! The beautiful ceremony was held outside in the well-manicured landscape that features the San Diego Skyline as a gorgeous background, followed by a cocktail hour held outside on the resort lawn. We helped set the mood for the cocktail hour by supplying a remote wireless sound system featuring the Zeen...

Are Your Electrical Cables Exposed

I was setting up for a wedding at a local venue here in San Diego that has multiple rooms and there was another wedding in a nearby room.  Like most curious professionals, I went in to scope things out.  It was a simple reminder of how sometimes the littlest of things may be overlooked . . . but unfortunately, not un-noticed . . . Where do your Extension Cables and Cords go? The “DJ Table” against the wall was littered with exposed cables, a power strip, a table linen/skirt that...

Jesse & Steph’s San Diego Botanic Garden’s Wedding

Jesse and Stephanie held their unique, early afternoon Monday wedding at the San Diego Botanic Gardens (aka Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas) and it was a memorable day for sure. It was extra special for me too since I know Steph from my Running Club.  BTW – She was training for a half marathon while planning her wedding! The Ceremony was held in the Walled Garden which provided a quiet, secluded area for them and their guests.  Music was supplied on the guitar by a close friend....

Marina Village Wedding String Lighting & Uplights

Was glad to help out Zoe’s wedding at Marina Village by providing champagne colored uplighting and string lights inside the Captain’s Room.  We put a total of 12 champagne colored uplights around the room and wrapped each of the 4 columns in white string lights. Since we did not provide DJ/MC Services, there are not alot of pictures of the reception itself, but got a few at the end as they were cleaning up.  I got to meet up with Zoe and her family after the wedding and they LOVED...

Callen & Ally’s Catamaran Wedding

Callen & Ally got married at the Catamaran Resort in San Diego and this one was extra special and fun for a few reasons.  I met Callen, the groom, 9 years ago through the Best Man, Antonio, a mutual friend of ours so it was a big day coming.  It was great to see alot of other mutual friends at the wedding as well.  Not only that, but Callen & Ally put together a great vendor team which makes things much more enjoyable and run smoothly. They held their Ceremony on the North Lawn and I...

Bill & Gabby’s Wedding at The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo

I wanted to get pics up from an absolute rocking wedding from last night.  Even after a 9 hour wedding (Ceremony 2pm, Reception ended at 11pm w/ no downtime in between aside from a 10 minute car ride), Bill & Gabby and their guests had an absolute party from beginning to end. The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo Wedding Pictures

How Many Uplights Should I Get for my Wedding or Event?

You’re planning a beautiful wedding reception or an eye-pleasing event and hear nothing but good things about “Uplighting”.  It is the best “bang for your buck” in regards to custom event decor and event lighting.  An “uplight” is a single fixture that sits on the ground and shines “up” something.  Simple enough? But how many uplights should you plan on getting for your event? Typical Number of Uplights in a Room After supplying over 200...

Open Dance after Bride & Groom’s First Dance Before Dinner? Check Your Flow

I just finished a consultation with a Bride & Groom for their wedding and we discussed doing an “Open Dance” of one song with all of the guests immediately following their first dance, which is happening before dinner.  (As opposed to having the first Open Dance after dinner to start off the dancing portion of the night. )  Having everyone come out to the dancefloor before dinner is a nice way to change things up a bit, get everyone out of their seats and do something unique....

Bryan & Kristin’s Altadena Town & Country Club Wedding

Bryan & Kristin were referred by a previous couple and celebrated their big wedding day at the Altadena Town Country Club which proved to be quite a hike from San Diego – about 2.5hrs.  After an extensive setup and battling the sun and heat, everything went off without a hitch!! The ceremony was held on grounds on the lower patio.  Kristin and her father made a grand entrance down the staircase and the sun luckily went down behind the buildings to provide some shade for the guests....
