Sierra & David had a Catholic ceremony earlier in the day, but brought their Wedding Reception to the Catamaran Resort in Pacific Beach for a top-notch celebration. Being the big “9-10-11” wedding day, the place was bustling with activity (there were 3 stuffed reception room just upstairs alone.) This was my second Catamaran wedding this summer alone. Don Cole photographed the evening and was a pleasure to work with with his very easy going attitude.
This one was extra special since the referral came from Sierra’s brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Natalie, both whom I worked with in my previous “career” before DJ’ing full time. Not only did I work with them, but I DJ’d their wedding over 5 years ago! Tim and I also attended the same school, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point) and it’s always great to be around fellow Kings Pointers! Anyhoo . . . .I digress.
Due to the day’s events, we couldn’t start things until 6:30pm meaning guests had a break in between the ceremony and reception. It’s usually recommended to avoid such gaps, but it didn’t affect everyone in having a great time all the way till midnight!! Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers in the foyer before being escorted inside the Boardroom for the dinner reception. We then introduced the bridal party, into David & Sierra’s first dance before starting buffet dinner.
Following dinner, we held our champagne toasts and right into dancing which was kicked off by a touching Father-Daughter dance! The long hours between Ceremony (2pm) and the reception (going to just before Midnight) didn’t stop everyone from having a great time!
The room looked awesome and Sierra gushed upon first seeing it when she arrived during Cocktail Hour. I provided a full set of uplighting and pinspot the cake table to really highlight it. In summary:
- Wedding Reception DJ/MC Services
- Remote Sound System for Cocktail Hour
- Uplighting for the Catamaran Boardroom
- Pinspotting for the Cake Table
It was a fitting setting for the celebration of David and Sierra’s big day! Congrats to the both of them!!
