I had the opportunity to help out a great organization while on vacation, the “Bridge to Healing” fundraiser for the Community Hospice program of Tuscarawas, Stark and Carroll counties in Ohio by providing DJ and Emcee services. My Mother ‘volunteered’ me to help (not coincidentally, this event was held the same week as my vacation home – call it a ‘working holiday’.)
Thanks to alot of marketing, press and media coverage, the event attracted over 200 people and included a Cocktail Hour, full buffet dinner, executive presentation by Hospice members along with a video slide show , followed by dancing until the end. I had the pleasure to also witness my first “gold fish eating” stint, which I quickly jumped on and turned it into a mini-fundraiser and got another $100 put into the pot. 50-50 tickets were also sold and split into 3 separate drawings to help build the excitement.
An extra thanks to my parents, Atwood Yacht Club, Tom & Barbara Newbold of Newbold Entertainment (for supplying the main DJ Equipment) and many of the staff and volunteers for helping put it all together.
