Jason & Megan were hoping to have a big celebration and fun party to celebrate their ‘wedding’ that technically took place months before due to Jason’s active duty military service. (Thank you, Jason and all of your guys for what you do.) Since they’re off to Okinawa for 3+ years, this was also their “going away party” and it didn’t disappoint.
Not only was the back story a good one, I’ve known Megan for a few years from my Running Club so this one was extra close to me. It also meant I saw a few familiar faces in the crowd too. Bali Hai was the spot of the entire party and we started with the ceremony out on the patio overlooking the Bay. There was a contingent of Marines overseeing things, and also provided the Sword Arch following the ceremony.
Guests were then invited to the Hawaiian Village for cocktails and hor’d oeuvres. After seating for dinner, we introduced the Bridal Party and then Jason & Megan as they went into their First Dance. We invited everyone out to join them for a “Open Dance” before dinner which is a great and unique way to start the evening. Dinner was awesome, then we heard a few toasts before the Family Dances into Open Dancing for the rest of the night.
The “room” which is more of a pavilion named the Hawaiian Village looked great, and our Fuchsia Uplighting provided some unique color to the ambience . . especially around sunset (See above)
And they partied! Even Jason’s grandma came up to me after about 1.5hrs and asked if I “was trying to give everyone a heart attack?” (I was asked to keep it very uptempo for them majority of the night.) We got one slow set in there for the couples to enjoy . . but then it was back to party time. Extending time was even discussed at one point . . . but it was evident that most had “had enough” if ya know what I mean . . . it was a good party for sure!
